The No Kill Advocacy Center has been changing the conversation regarding what we owe shelter animals. We were the first to challenge the myths that enable shelter killing, the first to declare No Kill animal control possible, and the first to show shelters how. Our director was also the first to achieve it in a municipal shelter.
When we started, mass killing in shelters was the norm. Today, some 50,000,000 people live in communities saving at least 80% of the animals, over 10,000,000 people live in communities where the municipal shelter is saving at least 90% of dogs and cats in their shelters; and over 2,000,000 people live in communities where the municipal shelter is saving at least 98% of the animals, returning “euthanasia” to its dictionary definition of ending the lives of irremediably suffering animals for reasons of mercy. We now have No Kill communities across the country and they all achieved it using our approach. For the animals who live in those cities and towns and for the people who love them, we are making a life and death difference. Thanks to the No Kill Advocacy Center, we are closer than ever to becoming a nation in which every animal finds in their local shelter a new beginning, rather than the end of the line. Will you help us continue to be a fearless voice on behalf of shelter animals until every last shelter in America has embraced our lifesaving innovation? |

And we are fighting in so many other places, in many other ways, impacting the lives of many more animals...
